Ohio State’s weight management benefits provide tools and incentives to help you slim down, get fit, and maintain a healthy weight. Select from a range of enhanced weight management options that will get you back on track to health, such as:

  • Nutrition counseling
  • Weight-loss programs
  • Fitness center discounts

Hospital-based/
physician- directed programs

Example: OSU Comprehensive Weight Management Program at the Center for Wellness and Prevention
  • Prior authorization required.
  • The university reimburses 50% of your cost based on attendance and member payment, with payouts made at no shorter than 6-session intervals or at program end if less than 6 sessions remaining. Payment will not be greater than the amount that you have paid to date.
  • Both hospital-based/
    physician-directed programs and Weight Watchers are subject to a combined $1,000 maximum benefit per plan year.
  • Weight management programs have a combined $25,000 lifetime maximum that is separate from the $2,000,000 maximum lifetime benefit for overall plan expenses.

Weight Watchers

Meetings held on campus or at offsite facilities
  • The university reimburses 50% of the cost based on attendance and member payment, with payouts made at no shorter than 5-meeting intervals or at program end if less than 5 meetings remaining. Payment will not be greater than the amount that you have paid to date.
  • Both Weight Watchers and hospital-based/
    physician-directed programs are subject to a combined $1,000 maximum benefit per plan year.
  • Weight management programs have a combined $25,000 lifetime maximum that is separate from the $2,000,000 maximum lifetime benefit for overall plan expenses.

Nutrition Services

General meal and diet planning
  • Three visits with a licensed registered dietician at 100% of fee schedule or UCR (usual, customary, and reasonable).
  • Three additional visits are permitted but require prior authorization. Subject to $15 copayment (network plans) or deductible and applicable coinsurance for office visit (non-network plans).

CareAllies also offers a weight management program to Ohio State University faculty, staff, and their adult dependents who have completed the PHA.
